This course has really taught me to not only stop and see 21st century skills, but also find ways to inject them into my classes and help students develop them at the same time as they learn. The biggest eye opener was the fact that not only are 21st century skills varied and all encompassing, but they are seriously underdeveloped in not only our students, but ourselves. I found myself struggling to define how and where I could use blogs and wikis, and now that I have experience with them, I’m excited to continue using them in my life and my classes.
In terms of my teaching, the biggest change I foresee is that my experimentation will grow since I'm no longer nervous about implementing new technologies or tools. I realized that if it is something that can benefit my students, then I should try my hardest to include it in the class and even if it seems like a topic that can't use Web 2.0 tools, there's always a way to include them for not only their benefit, but mine.
great point... the benefit is 2-fold, the teacher and the student. But in reality, the teacher is also the student just in a different perspective.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Rimas! I also found that once I felt comfortable with using the tools, such as the Blog and Wiki, I felt better able to incorporate the technology into my classroom. Not only do they help my students, they help me too. I hope that you continue with your lifelong learning. It was a pleasure being your classmate!
