I was thinking about different ways we can tell if someone not only has, but effectively uses 21st century skills. (I know, it might sound like a strange thing to daydream, but I’m pretty unique) Traditionally, this process of evaluation is done using assessments or metrics, so I thought… “Well, first we’d have to determine what 21st century skills are…then, we’d have to determine how they are manifested in someone…then, we’d have to watch their actions to see if they use those skills and if so…how well do they use them.” So assessing someone’s mastery and use of 21st century skills should be a pretty straightforward process once you determine what your assessments are…in essence, you create a ruler and measure anyone against it. That would show you how well they do according to your own definitions of 21st century skills…and that led me to my challenge for you dear readers. My question is:
- Did Sherlock Holmes have 21st century skills and if so, how well did he use them?
He solved crimes in a near-mystical way so he must have had skills far beyond the average person, but did those skills extend beyond his own century? Did he have communication skills, technology skills, critical thinking skills…?
As a bothersome sub-question, please explain why you think so or why you think not…in essence, tell me how you assessed his skills.
Once again, I bid you goodnight dear readers,
Faithfully yours,
A.Writer
I love the perspective of thinking about writers and their perspectives on writing. This blog could be a series until itself about different writers! Great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Rimas! and great questions!!! I love how you write, it is so approachable and makes me want to read more! You should write a book of your entries, I bet they would be great material for an English class!
